At SALTO European Solidarity Corps, we promote solidarity and volunteering in Europe and support the successful implementation of the European Solidarity Corps programme. Our goal is to help organisations, young people, National Agencies, and SALTO centres to make the most of this unique initiative.
We shape solidarity and strengthen youth volunteering by providing expertise, training, and resources. We support the implementation of the European Solidarity Corps, helping organisations and young people create impactful projects that bring positive change to communities.

Our Aims
- Support volunteering – We raise awareness of the European Solidarity Corps and help organisations provide meaningful opportunities.
- Promote solidarity - We support the common understanding of solidarity and its translation into action.
- Strengthen organisations – We offer training, tools, and resources to enhance their impact.
- Empower young people – We offer annual meetings for solidarity project teams to be part of a bigger European movement.
- Build communities – We bring together practitioners and organisations to build cooperations, exchange knowledge and share stories.
- Ensure quality – We develop expertise and resources to enhance volunteering practices for National Agencies, SALTO colleagues and organisations active in the Solidarity Corps.
- Share knowledge – We research and provide insights to make the programme even better.
- Shape the future – We contribute to policies that support and improve youth volunteering and engagement in Europe.

Our Strategy
We follow a strategy with five fields where we aim at having an impact until 2027.
- Shaping solidarity to establish a European narrative of solidarity and strengthen the recognition of its value.
- Strengthening European volunteering in order to improve the conditions for volunteering across Europe and partner regions and to spread awareness about the European Solidarity Corps programme and its impact.
- Embedding solidarity to promote the value of solidarity across all actions and activities of the EU youth programmes by supporting their synergies.
- Supporting quality implementation to provide effective support for NAs and regional SALTOs in the implementation to maximise the impact of the European Solidarity Corps.
- Supporting the building of a community of practice to build a thriving European community of practice around ESC, including organisations, mentors, trainers, municipalities, solidarity project organisers.
Aligned with our strategy, we have also created clear Quality standards that we use as guidelines in all our activities.

Meet our Advisory Group
Since 2019, the Advisory Group has been supporting and guiding the work of the SALTO European Solidarity Corps Resource Centre.

What does the Advisory Group do?
The group plays an important role in helping us to widen our perspectives and stay up to date with the latest needs and developments. It helps shape the services we offer by sharing knowledge and experience.
Its tasks include:

offering ideas and setting strategic priorities,

identifying new trends and challenges,
-
building connections across sectors, and
-
contributing to SALTO European Solidarity Corp’s work planning.
The main goal is to develop meaningful approaches that strengthen and grow the European Solidarity Corps and the volunteering sector.
Who is part of the group?
The Advisory Group includes around 20 people from across Europe. They bring a variety of views and experiences from inside and outside the youth field.
Members include:

youth researchers, trainers, and facilitators,
-
representatives from National Agencies and regional SALTO Centres,
-
the European Commission,
-
the European Network of Social Integration Enterprises,
-
the Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations,
-
the Centre for European Volunteering (CEV), and
-
the European Youth Forum.
Together, they help shape a strong and future-oriented European Solidarity Corps.
International Quality Label Working Group
The International Quality Label Working Group was created in November 2019 following the first international meeting of Quality Label experts in Prague, based on the needs of National Agencies and assessors.
Together - We support the quality implementing of volunteering activities in the European Solidarity Corps
The group is made up of experienced Quality Label experts and works in three sub-groups:
- Capacity Building – strengthening the skills of Quality Label experts
- Monitoring & Accreditation – improving how the Quality Label is assessed and followed up
- Conceptual Work – shaping the ideas and frameworks behind the Quality Label process

in order to reach the following objectives
- Support the development and common understanding of aims and objectives of the Quality Label process in the European Solidarity Corps
- Foster the exchange of best practise, experience, material and tools within the network
- Support the knowledge management of internal and external QL experts
- Enhance the visibility and increase the recognition of high quality QL procedures
- Contribute to the organisation of regular QL expert meetings
- Analyse existing tools, propose further developments and share common practises
- Foster the communication between NAs and Commission to allow an effective transfer of information
The group supports the organisation of two events:
- the International Quality Label Experts Training, which builds the capacity of National Agency staff and external assessors, and
- the International Quality Label Experts Meeting, a forum for sharing insights and shaping future developments.
