Activity objectives

The conference has the following objectives:

• Prepare key stakeholders for the implementation of the strategies
• Highlight the role and potential of the youth sector to contribute to the EU’s strategic aims, e.g. through the youth programmes, funded projects, Youthpass, European Training Strategy, and other relevant activities.  

Description

Europe is facing increasingly complex challenges: geopolitical instability, cyber threats, disinformation, economic shifts and climate change. In response, the EU’s Skills and Preparedness Strategies, proposed in March 2025 by the European Commission, aim to make Europe more resilient and future-ready. These strategies emphasise the crucial role of education in equipping citizens with the skills they need and in strengthening societal resilience. The European Commission’s proposal for the next Erasmus+ generation (2028–2034) aligns closely with the aims of these strategies.

Two core objectives are:

1. Equipping citizens for a competitive, sustainable, resilient and digital economy and society and
2. Democratic engagement, critical thinking and respect for European values; strengthening crisis preparedness and solidarity; and developing a sense of European belonging. 

The conference aims to offer a structured space for in-depth analysis and discussion of the EU strategies in the context of the proposed Erasmus+ programme, and to explore their relevance for the youth sector.
